Snowed! Stayed site 22 for 3 nights during the winter storm! ADA due to proximity to restrooms but the road base site seemed tough to navigate for handicapped. No sewer but power and water worked well. Very well maintained and clean park. So quiet with respectful neighbors, although limited privacy between sites. Took the cut through path over to the ranger station (near site 25). Did not utilize mini golf, boat ramp (closed) or bait shop (closed). Did purchase gifts from ranger station when checking in and paying the $5 parking pass. Walked the boardwalk trail (boardwalk was closed off and loops around it) to the viewing platform. If rangers happen to be viewing this.. the steps to the viewing platform need desperate repair. Drove into St Mary’s for the Cumberland Island ferry (this is a must do). If wondering what the best spot is… #11 for the most fantastic view! Thank you for a great first Georgia State Park visit!
It was my first time going to a state park in Georgia. I moved from the panhandle of Florida and was raised living in six state parks in Florida. I was very pleased at how well Crooked River was maintained and the cleanliness of the facilities and grounds. Going on a weekday, I found it peaceful and relaxing. Took several trials and had a picnic lunch while there. Will try other parks as time allows. Thanks to the folks at the park for a pleasant visit!
