Great Wolf Lodge has pros and cons. The kids absolutely love it and when it’s cold it’s great to get some pool time indoors. There’s a ton of different activities just in the water park and you can easily spend hours in there. There’s arcade is also fun but you burn through a ton of money super fast. For the downsides, the rooms are definitely showing their age. All the furniture is pretty rickety and I’m not sure how well the rooms are cleaned considering ours had a nerf dart on the floor and a hair tie in the shower. The hallways reek of pot but that’s kind of par for the course for a hotel nowadays. Breakfast was a bit of a mess with a long line to get in and then we had to wait additional time until someone called us that a table was ready. The food isn’t bad but nothing amazing. I’m also wondering why I paid more for breakfast by purchasing the coupon when I booked my room than I would have paid at the door since one of the kids is 3 and would have been free. Oh and they don’t have spoons so my 3 yr old had to eat his yogurt with a fork 🤦🏻♀️ I’m thankful we prepared ahead and brought hotdogs for dinner instead of having to deal with that too. Also I didn’t like the Hilton person by the front door ambushing everyone as they tried to go out. Anyway the kids enjoyed it so I’ll still give it 3 stars for a unique fun experience.
Pro: So much fun!! They have tons of activities for kids included and when you go during the non-peak times you can get a decent price on the rooms. The rooms have a lodge feel which stuck to the theme of the resort and were clean. The passes are also a ton of fun and they have added to the options of build-a-bears to pick from. The gal working at the build-a-bear area and the gal working the candy shop when we went were amazing with my kids! You can tell they like their job! At the pool, all the life guards were scanning the areas constantly and very on top of stopping things that were not safe. Each of them had a fanny pack with safety equipment and were dressed accordingly for the job. The water temp in the pool was perfect and I liked they had an adult hot tub area and an all ages hot tub area. We, unfortunately, had to cancel our last night there due to a blizzard that was coming the next day which we didn't want to travel in so I was expecting to eat the cost based on the policy BUT they refunded me because I checked out early enough. I didn't even ask for them too and they still did which was super nice! I loved that the room key is on a wrist band also used for the pool area - that way you don't have to worry about a key card and where to store it while swimming. My husband slipped and feel on the stairs in the main pool tower with the giant bucket which resulted in a lot of scratches/ sore back but we were able to talk to someone and write an incident report and they offered ointments/ bandages for the scratches. They handled it very professionally. There is a Bass Pro next door that is really neat to go to- they have tons of animal exhibits and even a decent size fish tank area. We ended up even getting some fun toys for the kids that were much cheaper than at the lodge itself. There are several good places to eat close to the lodge so that was nice for getting out and about. For what we spent on the rooms I am very pleased with the experience! Con: The ceiling in our room must have had some water damage from the room above it because there were spots that appeared to have been partially repaired and repainted but it was pretty obvious something had happened. Some of the bathroom wall paper was peeling but the rest of the bathroom was clean. They have several charges you don't expect including parking and resort service fee (adding up to over an additional $50 per night). There were some areas in the pool area that could use some additional cleaning- vents in the ceiling caked with dust and mold under one of the tube slides that drips down into the lazy river. There are quite a few slick areas in the pool area especially the locker rooms and where the bathrooms are located so I highly recommend everyone wear swim shoes. I saw several people slip and fall (not including my husband). If you go during the busy seasons the rooms are very expensive. There is no continental breakfast which is a bummer but we brought our own food knowing that. The pool towels are required to be checked in and out- we opted to bring our own beach towels which saved us the headache of doing that (highly recommend).
