First time visiting the city bowling in the usbc nationals and decided to check out a alley in Baton Rouge after finishing to have it shut down horrendously with poor customer service and interaction from one individual in particular. My wife called to make sure there wasn’t league or what lane availability was available, girl on the phone said there was league but it was a small league and that there were plenty of lanes available regardless . We quickly got our nationals team together and got to the center in about 20 minutes and were quickly met with a rude (very aggressive) woman let my wife know that there were no lane availabilities and it would be at LEAST until 9:30 they wouldn’t have lanes as all were reserved (which was never an option offered or suggested to us and as years long league and tournament bowlers would’ve gladly set a reservation) despite there being a largely visible amount of open lanes available as many league bowlers for the night had just finished. She proceeded to make my wife fill out a “sign up sheet/waiting list” on the back of what looked almost like a sticky note I assumed would be laughed at and disregarded by the immediate disrespect we were met with upon saying we had literally just called and stayed there was plenty of vacancy and gave no reason or ground for the hoops we were having to jump through. So we did so and proceeded to sit patiently for about 30-45 minutes politely as we conversed with a fellow league/nationals regular, my wife then went to ask again (seeing as how maybe 20+ of the 64 lanes were visibly vacant at this point and asked politely if we could be placed on one of those and was immediately cut off with “those lanes are already previously reserved” which again we were never offered the chance to even attempt and when my wife said that she was quoted 9:30 was rudely cut off and told AT LEAST! Until 9:30 almost like she was being bothered to help customers. My wife came back visibly upset at which point said female left her work station to the two gentlemen behind the counter to walk to other side and purchase a souvenir pin cup and walk away. Said fellow nationals bowler then approached the counter to talk to the two gentlemen (Who were very polite and helpful) who then put our team on a lane. Shortly after the girl returned and was visibly upset with her fellow employees as she kept looking back at the lane we were placed on, then within 20 minutes 2 large groups were placed on either side of us out of half a league worth of lanes now currently available without any “reserved” lane bowlers to show up on any others at this point was easily the projected “AT LEAST” time we were rudely told we couldn’t have one because of. The bowlers on either side had no lane courtesy and would walk up mid approach while half walking into your lane, which didn’t bother as much, the bothersome part was as previously stated non available lanes remained open other than the two on either side being the only ones to be given to fellow customers. The amount of obscenities and attitude of placed bowlers proceeded to send my wife into a panic attack that once I was able to calm we immediately left after only throwing 2 games out of a 60$ 2 hour session we paid for and I don’t see us returning again anytime soon. Just sad to see such a decent house fall so low due to the way one employee acted and treated practitioners of the sport. I hope she doesn’t always treat customers like that or something should definitely be done about the way she handles simple inquiries and questions in the future…overall not really a bad alley by any means other than the experience of a new house being completely overshadowed and ruined by one employee’s poor attitude and treatment of us more than anything…every other employee was very kind, helpful and accommodating, even the fellow bowlers who lacked lane courtesy were friendly with us and ultimately not the issue for such a sadly poor experience in such a truly peaceful and friendly experience of the city itself.

Called ahead to confirm open bowling and space available. Was assured there was plenty of space available. Arrive 20mins later and was told no space available and that we'd be put on a wait list seemingly for about 1 hour before a lane opened up. While waiting we started chatting with a gentleman about the USBC Open Championship in town. Turns out this guy was a well established local within the bowling community and was assisting with a Mini Event going on with Bowlers Journal. He tried to assist us in getting a lane as looking around we saw more that enough lanes open and unoccupied. The female manager insisted we had to wait as those lanes had been reserved. Although there is no such signage or anything indicating and validating what she had told us. She was easily upset with our group of 4 when we asked again 15 mins later about all the open lanes. The gentleman that was helping us secure a lane stepped up to a couple employees that were now behind the front desk. Explained what was happening and soon one of the young men called us over and set us up. When the manager returned to the desk, we could easily she was not happy when she noticed us setting up. Appeared she started to reprimand the 2 young men at the counter. Which all they did was provide great customer service to 4 experienced, multiple league playing per week, from 1300 miles away, bowlers who were in town to bowl the USBC Open and wanted to experience which is most likely the last real bowling alley Baton Rouge has left. Props to the boys behind the counter! Good Job! Thank you, Mystery Man, who assisted us in obtaining a lane. Thumbs down 👎🏼 to the manager gal. We had bowled only 2 games and had left. When exiting the premises, there were still plenty of open lanes still available since before we arrived. Maybe she was just having a bad night and needed a hug. However, in a managerial role inside a high customer service business, customers deserve better than she was portraying to give us. Also Lane 33 was ultra dry. just a tiny amount of oil was present on the lane. Our guess was that the lanes have not been stripped and not oiled for about 4-6 days. Talking a low flair weak urethane ball hooking the whole lane and watching it grab 2-3 times before reaching axis CoG for the break point. Bummer
