The Matterhorn was stunning. Comfortable cabin, amazing view. Fresh mountain air, crisp water, what more could you ask for. Loved this trip!
First, I recommend brining fire wood or you'll pay 7 dollars per crate (7-10 wood). They have it advertised from 4 pm to 7 pm, but you are able to grab the wood earlier than that. At least when we went, that was the case. That's my only complaint, not a big one. Now for the rest You'll pull in and talk to the station. If you come after 7 pm, you'll see a board to your right that you'll fill out your information about your reservation. They will stop by in the morning (8am ish) to talk to you and make sure everything went smoothly. You have one restroom, maybe two. In the males, you have 2 stalls while the girls have 3. We have zero issues on wait times. Also, 3 showers are located right outside the restroom doors. Plus two outdoor cleaning stations for your dishes. The drinking fountain there lacks pressure, so bring your own just in case. The camp site itself was kept up. We had zero issues when we arrived. Wild life is pretty active here. We woke up to some coyotes, so watch out with your dogs and children. Once the place is active, everything runs off. You have two trials one is a nature trial that's about 2.5 miles round trip while you have the St. Joseph trial does a steady incline. I don't remember the distance on that trial. You do go from 4,800 feet to about 8,000. I recommend this with people who have tents, rvs and etc. You have your 30 and 50 amps. Clean, fun place to hang out and bring the family for the weekend. Book ahead of time. You won't regret it.
